Senior women beat Arklow for the first time ever

Friday, 02 September 2016 11:27

Wicklow senior ladies team continued on their pre-season preparation on a sunny Sunday morning in Ashtown Lane against fellow Leinster League division 3 side Arklow. The Wicklow team was made up of a number of last years u18 girls, some past players returning to the game and returning from other clubs and some girls who have just recently taken up rugby.

The Wicklow Ladies withstood a sustained period of Arklow pressure at the start of the game and staunch defence prevented the Arklow girls from crossing the line. As the game progressed and the Wicklow confidence grew they started to grow into the match. They moved the ball around with skill and certainly played the match with a smile on their faces. They scored a number of flowing tries and were in full control of the game.
