Crunch time for Wicklow

Wednesday, 03 January 2018 10:07

Massive game for Wicklow Senior men this Saturday Jan 6th when they take on Gorey RFC in Ashtown Lane on Saturday. With Monkstown rooted to the bottom of the table, the four teams above them (Wicklow, Gorey, De La Salle and Boyne) are all within a point of each other.

This is an absolute must win game for Wicklow. The club are asking our members to get up and support the team in what is a season defining game. Kick off for the firsts is at 2.30pm with the seconds at 1pm.

On Sunday Jan 7th our Senior Women travel to take on league leaders Tullow in Black Gates. A win for Wicklow would be a huge result and would put them back in contention for league honours. Kick off is at 1pm

WRFC Development.

Wednesday, 13 December 2017 10:00

WRFC were recently granted full planning permission for an exciting 180 Sq metre gym and dressing room extension. This will provide the club with a large, purpose built, state of the art gymnasium. It will also allow the conversion of the existing gym into two new dressing rooms with separate access to the showers which will facilitate hosting male and female teams on the same day. Something that has been impossible do in the past.

While we were disappointed not to receive an allocation in the recent run of Sports Capital grants, we hope to be successful when we apply again for the next round in 2018.

We are an ambitious club and are continuously trying to improve our facilities for our members and the local community. This year we have added a fantastic new all-weather training area behind the main pitch and continued to tarmac a large section to improve our parking facilities. Along with the superb third pitch and ball stop netting which was added in 2015/16 and the new parking areas and patio areas added in 2013 and 2014 mean our club has been completely transformed in the last five years.

Early next year we also have to undertake a major project in replacing the existing septic tank at a cost of over €20,000.

All of these projects mean we do need to work hard at our fundraising. Progressive developments like this, would be simply impossible to complete without the support of you our members. We would like to thank you for your continued support and ask that you continue to assist our efforts to improve our club and our facilities for our members and the community.
