Senior Update

Friday, 29 September 2017 15:50

Big weekend for the club senior teams. The senior men, following their two excellent wins on Sunday last against Monkstown, travel to near neighbours Gorey for what is very likely to be a tough assignment.

Gorey have strengthened their squad considerably over the summer and travelled to Boyne on Sunday last, leaving with a comfortable away win against a team that played AIL last season. The Wexford side always bring a huge crowd to their home games so Wicklow are asking all our supporters to make the half hour trip down the M11 trip to support both teams on Saturday. Firsts kick off at 3pm with the seconds game at 1.30pm.

On Sunday our Senior Women take on a powerful Tullow side at Ashtown Lane. Still smarting from their first defeat in over a year against an excellent Garda side last weekend, the team will be keen to get back to winning ways in what is sure to be a fascinating encounter. This is the first time the two clubs have played a senior game against each other. Kick off is at 1pm.

Following this, history will be made when a Wicklow RFC Senior Womens second team will take the field against Portlaoise RFC. This is a remarkable achievement and if successful will make Wicklow one of the very few clubs in thew country to field two senior womens teams. New players are welcome to join this squad. Kick off for this important game is at 2.30pm.

Welcome back!

Thursday, 31 August 2017 10:55

WRFC are looking forward to welcoming our players and members back this weekend for the start of what should be a really exciting 2017 – 2018 season. The club has grown from strength to strength in recent years and we hope to continue this growth into the coming year and into the future.

Our senior men have moved to Saturday rugby this season and the boys and girls in the kinders and minis are switching to Sunday mornings. The youths will primarily play on Saturdays and the Senior Women on Sundays.

We are an ambitious club and are continuously trying to improve our facilities for our members and the local community. This year we have added a fantastic new all-weather training area behind the main pitch. Along with the superb third pitch and ball stop netting which was added in 2015/16 and the new parking areas and patio areas added in 2013 and 2014 mean our club has been completely transformed in the last five years.

We are delighted to announce the recent grant of full planning permission for an exciting 180 Sq metre gym extension. This will allow conversion of the existing gym into two dressing rooms with separate access to the showers which will facilitate hosting male and female teams on the same day. Something that has been impossible do in the past.

This season we also have to undertake a major project in replacing the existing septic tank at a cost of up to €20,000.
All of these projects would be impossible to complete without the support of you our members. Our club memberships are now due. At the recent AGM in May there was a proposal passed to increase membership fees for the first time in three years.

Membership this season will be as follows
Kinders €70.
Minis €90.
Family Membership €200.
Adult Membership €120.
Student Membership €90.
Overseas Membership €90.
