Wicklow 1st XV 23 Enniscorthy 1st XV 20

Wicklows 1st XV created another special piece of history on Sunday by beating Enniscorthy in the 2015/2016 South East Final. In doing so they confirmed that their win over the reigning Leinster League 1A Champions and the All Ireland Cup holders, in the Provincial Towns Cup final in May was no fluke.

The game was played in front of a large crowd on a fantastic playing surface. The sun was shining and there was a strong diagonal crosswind that favoured Enniscorthy in the first half. A very fired up Enniscorthy were clearly out to set the record straight and tore into Wicklow from the off .

Peter Hastie starts for Leinster u19s

Friday, 02 September 2016 11:30

Congratulations to Wicklows Peter Hastie who has been selected at full back on the Leinster under 19s to face Ulster in the opening match of the upcoming interprovincial series.

Made up of the best schools and club players Peter is one of only five club players to make the match day 23. This is a fantastic achievement for Peter and also to David Nicholson who was unlucky not to make the match day squad having been involved in the extended squad for the warm up games. Both players have done themselves and the club proud.

Senior women beat Arklow for the first time ever

Friday, 02 September 2016 11:27

Wicklow senior ladies team continued on their pre-season preparation on a sunny Sunday morning in Ashtown Lane against fellow Leinster League division 3 side Arklow. The Wicklow team was made up of a number of last years u18 girls, some past players returning to the game and returning from other clubs and some girls who have just recently taken up rugby.

The Wicklow Ladies withstood a sustained period of Arklow pressure at the start of the game and staunch defence prevented the Arklow girls from crossing the line. As the game progressed and the Wicklow confidence grew they started to grow into the match. They moved the ball around with skill and certainly played the match with a smile on their faces. They scored a number of flowing tries and were in full control of the game.
