U18s win again

Wicklow u18s v Barnhall 2/2/20.

Barnhall arrived to Ashtown Lane by far the bigger team, they were however met with a strong Wicklow team from the start .
After 10 mins Wicklow went 5 -0 up after a try by Mikey O’Doherty on the wing .

Wicklow kept the pressure on, going 12 -0 up after only 15 mins with a try from Aaron Canterbury and converted by Aaron Byrne . Barnhall took advantage of a gap in defence and made their way into the wicklow half . Wicklow lads defence was tested but Barnhall came in for a converted try after 39 mins. With half time came the sleet and rain which made for more difficult conditions for the second half . Barnhall landed a drop goal early in the second half to make the score 12-10 and put the pressure back on Wicklow. Excellent work from the forwards resulted in agreat line out steal and put Barnhall under pressure. After 25 mins a superb solo breakaway try by Frankie Reynolds converted by Aaron Byrne puts the Wicklow lads ahead by 19-10 . Great pressure by Wicklow and some new legs on with the return of Nicky Flood from injury put Wicklow in a good position for the rest of game. With 6 substitutes available, the bench made a massive impact in the second half. With the clock running down Wicklow won a penalty in front of the posts and Aaron Byrne slotted the kick to get the final 3 points of the game .
Score ended 22-10
A great display of rugby from all 21 players. Balbriggan at home next Sunday.
